The Ponderer waistcoat is quilted waistcoat in a cropped straight fit. It features two in-seam pockets on the front, a v-neck and is quilted using 100% cotton batting and in a square pattern that compliments the pattern on the fabric. It is lined with cotton satin that gives a soft yet structured interior.
The making process involves firstly sewing the batting by hand with long stitches to the exterior fabric, then following up with machine- quilting the uncut fabric. The waistcoat pieces are then cut and sewn entirely on a single-needle lockstitch machine.
The prototype is made from locally-sourced Italian Prince of Wales in 100% wool. Other ideal fabrics for it include denim, cotton and linen canvas and twill, or any light to medium weight wool.
