The Dogearer is a playful adaptation of my Booktrader jacket. It features a cropped, slightly boxy fit, curved sleeves, a pleated back, contrasting two piece collar and lower half. The seam between the upper and lower halves open to a pocket on either side. The jacket fronts are lined and have a third patch pocket on the inside.
It is sewn entirely on a single-needle lockstitch machine, which means no overlocked seams- the inside is finished as cleanly as the outside of the jacket with flat-felled seams and bias- binding.
The prototype is made from vintage Italian fabrics in 100% wool. Other ideal fabrics for the jacket include non-stretch denim, cotton and linen canvas, oilskin, dry oilskin and medium to heavy weight wool.
The use of striped fabric is also an interesting option, to create a contrast between the top and bottom halves by switching the direction of the stripes. The Dogearer jacket is made-to-order and is available in sizes XS-XXL.
